Rainbow Trip

I am not a fan of squares. Generally I love movement and triangles, waves, curves, anything but straight squares. Then the ladies over at Creation Station showed me this book: IMG_4624[1]

I think after looking through all of the projects I “only” had to do three of them. My kit for Rainbow Trip came in yesterday and I rushed out to get it and was so excited about it I started it as soon as I got it home. The makers of the fabric did such a great job, the colors are gorgeous and the cotton feels so snuggly soft. I really wish I would have reserved more of it.

See? Isn’t it pretty?!?!?!img_46171.jpg

I managed to get through one block by the end of last night. Organization is a big deal for this one, as there are 36 different prints and each block is unique. The instructions read like a knitting pattern, each fabric has a number. I started by writing out the fabric numbers and safety pinning them to each of the fabrics. Then, as I began to cut them, my strips and extra each went into ziploc bags with the number and pin in them. Ultimately, once they are all cut (I’m sort of cutting them as I go to start) I will partition out each block and use the ziploc bags for that, returning the safety pinned fabric numbers to the unused fabric. I totally want to do more of these projects, otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered.

So far, it seems to be working. I’d love to know if any of you have better organization mechanisms, I think I’ve made this overly complicated and can’t figure out how to streamline it.

The end result of my nights work is a completed block! img_46231-e1501532179266.jpg

I can hardly wait to see it completed!
